Man Utd coach Ralf Rangnick in a post-match statement, has revealed why Uruguay international and striker Edison Cavani didn’t start vs Man City on Sunday.

Rangnick, who led the Red Devils to an embarrassing defeat against Man City, stressed that Cavani trained in the last three days but was not ready for the match.

The coach added that he couldn’t force a player who doesn’t feel fit enough to play.

“Edi trained in the last three days, he trained well, but he still felt after yesterday afternoon that he’s not fit to play.

“As a manager I cannot force a player to play if he doesn’t feel fit enough and well enough to play,” Rangnick said.

Cavani didn’t play for the Red Devils on Sunday and has been featured with the squad in any game since February 8.

In another report, Man Utd have now dropped to the fifth spot on the table after they were beaten 4-1 by Man City.
