Erling Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge has opened up about why his son decided to sign a deal with Manchester City ahead of the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

Haaland, who moved to Man City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window was a centre of attraction owing to his goal-scoring skills, which made many top European clubs interested in him.

Speaking on Haaland’s decision to join Man City ahead of other teams, Alfie told The Big Decision Haaland documentary: “On our list, I think City is the best team.

“[Bayern] Munich is number two. We have Real Madrid as number three, and Paris Saint-Germain as number four.

“We also have some English teams other than City who are quite good . . . Liverpool and Chelsea. Also, there is Barcelona. They’re sort of in the same row.”

Haaland has been impressive in the Premier League since joining Man City as he continues to shine.
