Man Utd star singled out for praise after win against Newcastle

Popular football pundit Alan Smith has singled out Manchester United midfielder and captain Bruno Fernandes for praise after their win against Newcastle United on Wednesday night.

Smith in a statement said the Portuguese midfielder played a key role during the match as he was everywhere on the pitch against Newcastle.

Fernandes returned from the sideline to bag an assist as the Red Devils defeated Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

While Fernandes was away, Man United suffered back-to-back losses against Crystal Palace and Arsenal in the league.

The defeat saw them drop to the 8th spot on the league table, losing a chance to play in European tournaments next season.

Speaking about Fernandes, Smith in a statement via Sky Sports said Bruno Fernandes has been everywhere tonight.

He added that the Portuguese always display great footballing intelligence wherever he was on the pitch.

Despite their win, Man Utd led by Erik ten Hag have remained at the eight spot.

Amid their woes, they have a chance to end the season with a trophy if they can defeat their rivals and neighbours Manchester City in the FA Cup final which will take place later this month.
