Former Manchester City keeper David James believes it’s time Sergio Aguero is allowed to leave the club despite being one of the greatest scorers in the club history.

Sergio Aguero’s form at Manchester City has seen him linked with top European teams every transfer window and this winter has not been different.

The Argentine has been able to create a legacy for himself at Manchester City and has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Aguero has been reportedly eyed by new PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino who wants him to lead his new attack alongside Neymar and Mbappe.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, David James stated that he would let go of Aguero if he was in charge of the team affairs.

He noted that this is not taking anything away from Aguero as he’s a legend at Man City and always will be.

However, there comes a point though when the team are relying on him and can’t move forward and they’ve proved that they can move forward without him this season.

James pinpointed that Aguero might have finished top goalscorer in the Premier League once but we are not talking about an Alan Shearer that did it three years in a row.

The former England international noted that as much as Aguero is a Man City legend and a dangerous threat, he spends a lot of time injured and this has stopped him from always being the top scorer in the Premier League and Man City are slowly trying to find that instinct where multiple high goalscorers are more important than one outstanding goalscorer.

He urged the club to let him go if they can get some money for him from PSG, especially considering the amount of time he has been injured.

Sergio Aguero under Pep Guardiola this season has scored two goals in nine appearances as he’s spent most of the season on the sidelines through injury.
