Barcelona confirms deal for Chelsea’ Christensen

Spanish side Barcelona have confirmed their deal for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.

The Catalans have been linked with moves for Christensen for some months now but little was made public.

Well, Barcelona have finally announced a new deal for the Denmark international who left Chelsea on a free transfer this summer.

He signed a deal to remain with the Catalans till 2026. He is expected to be presented to the media on Thursday.

The Danish defender will have a release clause of €500m (£430.22m) in his deal.

Christensen was at Chelsea for a decade initially featuring in the academy setup before being promoted to the first team at the Premier League club.

Many of his 161 appearances at Chelsea came after a two-year loan period at Borussia Monchengladbach, where he featured on 82 occasions between 2015 and 2017.

Although he was unable to win a Premier League title with Chelsea, the 26-year-old defender played an active role as he was a part of the squad that won the Champions League during 2020-21 for Chelsea.
