Manchester United Learn £47m Price Tag for Arsenal-Linked World Cup Midfielder
Manchester United have reportedly been informed of the asking price required to sign Roma midfielder Manu Kone, setting up a potential transfer battle with Arsenal this summer.
The France international has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after midfielders following an impressive season with Roma and a series of standout performances at the World Cup. Both Arsenal and Manchester United are looking to strengthen the centre of midfield ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, with Kone featuring prominently on their respective shortlists.
Roma are understood to value the 25-year-old at around €55 million (£47 million) and are not expected to lower their demands despite growing interest from the Premier League.
Manchester United’s need for reinforcements has increased following Casemiro’s departure and an injury to Manuel Ugarte, leaving Michael Carrick short of experienced midfield options during pre-season. While the club are closing in on a deal for Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos and continue to pursue Atalanta’s Ederson, Kone remains under consideration.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are also pushing to strengthen their midfield despite already boasting Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice. Reports have suggested the Gunners have held positive talks with Kone’s representatives and even reached an agreement on personal terms, although a fee with Roma has yet to be negotiated.
The midfielder’s athleticism, ball-winning ability and composure in possession have made him an attractive option for both clubs as they prepare for another demanding campaign.
With Roma standing firm on their valuation, the race for Kone could intensify over the coming weeks as two Premier League rivals compete for one of the most highly rated midfielders currently available on the market.
