Arsenal Emerge as Favourites for PSG Star in Major Blow to Liverpool Transfer Plans
Arsenal have reportedly moved into pole position in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, dealing a significant setback to Liverpool’s summer transfer plans.
The France international has become one of the most sought-after attackers in Europe following another impressive campaign and his strong performances at the World Cup. While Liverpool had identified Barcola as a leading target to strengthen their attack after the departure of Mohamed Salah, Arsenal are now believed to have taken the lead in the pursuit.
Liverpool have already added Victor Munoz from Osasuna this summer but remain eager to recruit another high-quality winger. The Reds were previously chasing RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, only for the Ivorian to favour a move to Paris Saint-Germain instead.
With that deal no longer an option, Liverpool shifted their attention to Barcola. However, recent reports suggest Arsenal have made greater progress in the race and are now viewed as the frontrunners for the 23-year-old’s signature.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also indicated that Barcola is no longer considered “untouchable” by PSG. The French champions are now reportedly open to discussing offers under the right conditions, significantly increasing the likelihood of a summer transfer.
Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his attacking options despite Arsenal’s Premier League title-winning campaign, with Barcola seen as an ideal addition thanks to his pace, creativity and versatility across the front line.
Should Arsenal complete the signing, it would not only reinforce their squad for another title challenge but also deny one of their biggest domestic rivals a marquee attacking addition.
