Barcelona Respond as Arsenal Step Up Last-Minute Push for Julian Alvarez

Barcelona are reportedly remaining calm despite Arsenal’s growing efforts to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez before the start of the new season.

The Argentina international has been one of Arsenal’s top transfer targets for several months, with Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta convinced he possesses the qualities needed to elevate the club’s attack. The Gunners are understood to have been in contact with the striker’s representatives since the beginning of the year and are now intensifying their pursuit.

Recent reports suggest Arsenal are eager to complete a deal before pre-season gets fully underway, with Alvarez viewed as the marquee addition capable of strengthening a squad that won the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final last season.

However, Arsenal are not alone in the race. Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed strong interest in the 26-year-old, who has enhanced his reputation with impressive performances for Argentina at the World Cup.

Barcelona are believed to have already seen an offer worth around €100 million rejected by Atletico Madrid. Despite Arsenal’s renewed push, reports from Spain indicate the Catalan club are not concerned by developments and remain confident in their own position should Alvarez decide to leave the Spanish capital.

Atletico Madrid continue to hold a strong negotiating position and are expected to demand a substantial fee before considering any sale.

With Alvarez’s future unlikely to be resolved until after the World Cup, Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are all expected to remain in the race for one of the most sought-after forwards in world football as the summer transfer window enters a crucial stage.
