Bayern Join Chelsea in race for Juve defender

German side Bayern Munich have joined Chelsea in the race for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, according to Sky Germany.

De Ligt is one of the Blues’ top defensive targets this summer, as they hope to sign him as replacements for Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

While Rudiger has signed a deal with the Spanish side Real Madrid, Christensen on the other hand has been linked with moves to Barcelona as a free agent this summer.

There are claims that negotiations are already ongoing between Bayern and Juventus.

The report revealed that the Dutch defender also wants a transfer to Germany after hearing Hasan Salihamidzic and Julian Nagelsmann’s pitch for the Bayern project.

Juventus, however, would only let De Ligt leave if they find a club willing to pay their asking price as they value him at closer to €100m (£86m), around £10m more than they paid Ajax three years ago.

With Bayern now in the race, it is unlikely that the Blues would sign still be able to convince him to move to England.
