Former defender, Danny Simpson, has joined other footballer to react to Manchester United’s woeful performance in their recent outing the Premier League.

Simpson, however, singled out Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot for criticism after the Red Devils’ 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday.

According to Simpson, it was Dalot’s failure to stop Brennan Johnson, that led to Tottenham’s first goal during the encounter.

The former defender, who spoke to MUTV, stressed that Dalot was unable to track the run of the Tottenham star.

He stated the Portugal star was slow to recover and didn’t manage to get back in position to defend the back post.

Simpson said he saw the cross coming, and for Johnson to have that much space at the back post was criminal.

“I think that’s Dalot’s position, I’m not sure whether he was inverted from midfield or at full back, and he needs to recover,” he said.

The recent outcome against Tottenham has left Man Utd at the 12 spot on the league table as several fans called for manager Erik ten Hag’s sack.

Man Utd will hope to bounce back with a win when they face Porto in the UEFA Europa League later this week.
