Chelsea defender, Kalidou Koulibaly, who is on international duty for his home country Senegal has claimed that the squad will miss forward Sadio Mane as they kick off their 2022 FIFA World Cup against the Netherlands in Qatar.

Koulibaly described Mane as a leader, adding that Senegal players will play for the Bayern Munich star.

Senegal national team will be without the Bayern Munich star when they face the Netherlands in their World Cup opener on Monday evening.

Mane is currently ruled out of the tournament due to an injury he sustained while playing for Bayern.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Koulibaly said, “We will miss Mane at this World Cup. He is an important player for us and a leader.

“It was a bit sad when we knew he could not come to the World Cup, but we have to keep working and playing for him because he wanted so badly to come.

“So, I think the Senegal team will play for him, and we show everybody that they can trust us.”
