As the summer transfer window prepares to swing into full gear on July 1—when many contracts officially expire—Lille striker Jonathan David has emerged as one of the most in-demand names on the market.

However, despite strong interest from several Premier League clubs, the Canadian international’s next move may take him outside of England.

David, 25, has been linked with almost every major club in the English top flight over the past 18 months, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and West Ham. His appeal is clear: he’s a consistent goal scorer with a sharp instinct in front of goal—something few strikers in Europe can offer with such regularity.

With 109 goals in 232 appearances for Lille, including 25 in just 43 games last season, David has proven himself as a reliable and prolific forward. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with scouts from top Premier League clubs frequently attending matches in Ligue 1 to monitor his progress.

In addition to his club success, David has also shown he can perform on the international stage, further enhancing his reputation. While Premier League clubs remain in the hunt, reports suggest competition from European sides is intensifying, which could complicate English clubs’ efforts to bring him in.

As the window opens, the race for Jonathan David’s signature is wide open—but for now, Premier League suitors may have their work cut out.

I would sign this dude in a heartbeat. Unless he has underlying health problems or totally unrealistic wage demands, i just dont get it. He can play all the 4 attacking roles and has a wealth of international and champions league experience.

Why wait? Surely better or as good as Jesus, Trossard and Martinelli? Certainly better as a striker than Havertz and Merino.
