Rio Ferdinand Backs Osimhen for Manchester United Amid Arsenal’s Move for Gyokeres

Rio Ferdinand has admitted that Viktor Gyokeres’ potential move to Arsenal doesn’t concern him, but he would be disappointed if Manchester United fail to land their top striker target this summer.
The Manchester United legend believes his former club should focus on signing Napoli star Victor Osimhen, who he feels would be the ideal addition at Old Trafford.
According to talkSPORT, Sporting CP striker Gyokeres is closing in on a transfer to Arsenal, with the 27-year-old having agreed personal terms on a five-year deal. While no formal agreement between the clubs has been reached yet, confidence remains high within Gyokeres’ camp that a move to north London will soon be finalised.
Manchester United have previously shown interest in Gyokeres, who enjoyed a successful spell under manager Ruben Amorim at Sporting. However, Ferdinand believes United should set their sights elsewhere.
Speaking to tennis star Nick Kyrgios in an interview for talkSPORT, Ferdinand was asked who he would most like to see United sign this summer, particularly with Gyokeres seemingly bound for Arsenal.
“I’ve been saying this for a long time,” Ferdinand replied. “If anyone listens to my podcast, they know I’ve been shouting about Osimhen for a while now. He’s exactly what we need—a proper centre-forward with experience who knows how to score goals at the top level.”
Ferdinand’s comments underline his belief that Osimhen could be the key figure to lead Manchester United’s attack next season, regardless of Gyokeres’ potential Arsenal switch.
