UCL: Why Pogba didn’t start vs Atalanta
Former England international Joe Cole, in a statement, has revealed why coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t start Paul Pogba vs Italian Seria A side Atalanta during their UCL clash at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Cole stressed that Solskjaer doesn’t trust Pogba at the Red Devils central midfield because the French midfielder lacks discipline.
This comes as Pogba didn’t make it to Man United’s starting XI vs Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night at Old Trafford.
Instead, Solskjaer went on to start the duo of Fred and Scott McTominay ahead of Pogba.
The reason for the changes can be linked to Pogba’s disappointing display in the Red Devils 4-2 defeat to Leicester City last weekend.
“Solskjear just does not trust Pogba in that position,” Scholes told BT Sport.
“I think he has tried to trust him, he has given him so many chances, and he really wants to, but he is seeing the lack of discipline he has in that position.
While Cole stressed that the changes made by Solskjaer vs Atalanta could cost Man Utd dearly, the Red Devils went on to win the game by a 3-2 scoreline.
