The UEFA Champions Leagues is set to return again this season and the predictions about the clubs that could lift the title are already flying.

Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack in his prediction ruled out Premier League clubs’ chances of winning the Champions League title.

Ballack named French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish club Barcelona as the two favourites to win the UEFA Champions League this season.

The former Germany star also ruled out Bundesliga club Bayern Munich, Spanish side Real Madrid and Premier League club Manchester City from competing for Europe’s top-flight trophy.

Speaking to Sport Bild about the clubs that could lift the Champions League title this season, Ballack said (via GOAL): “Of course, FC Barcelona. The team is strong. They have an outstanding difference-maker [Yamal] in their ranks and in Hansi Flick, a coach who’s a perfect fit.”

The former Chelsea star said that Paris Saint-Germain also count as a defending champions, among the top favorites to win the UCL title this season.

“Bayern are not among the absolute top favourites for me, but rather a challenger. I also don’t count Manchester City and Real Madrid,” he added.
