Tuchel warns Chelsea on the danger of not signing new players
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has sent a warning to the club’s hierarchy on the danger of not signing new players this summer ahead of the new season.
So far this summer, Chelsea have signed only two players and they are Raheem Sterling from Manchester City and Koulibaly from Napoli.
The Blues were close to signing a deal for Jules Kounde from Sevilla but it seems Spanish side Barcelona are about to beat them to the transfer.
Tuchel urges the Blues hierarchy to be fast in the race to sign more players in other positions.
Chelsea need at least one more striker after they saw Romelu Lukaku return to Inter Milan on loan this summer.
“Somebody told me years ago and I’ll never forget, if you’re on a stairlift that is going down, to maintain your position you have to keep on walking, and this is what it is,” said the Chelsea manager.
“Premier League and high-level sports, in general, is so demanding that if you want to maintain your position you have to improve.
“We have to do our homework. The other teams are not sleeping, we need to be more competitive than we are at the moment.”
