Former Chelsea chief applaud Tuchel’s appointment as England coach

Former Chelsea  manager Thomas Tuchel’s appointment as England new coach has remained a heated topic in the football world.

Amid criticisms that has trailed Tuchel’s appointment, former Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has sent congratulatory message to Tuchel.

Granovskaia, who was with Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, stated that the German ‘knows trophies.’

Recall that the former Chelsea boss was unveiled as the Three Lions’ new manager on Wednesday.

Tuchel will take over from interim coach Lee Carsley in January 2025.

The Germany international is a replacement for the Three Lions former permanent manager Gareth Southgate.

Reacting to Tuchel’s appointment, Granovskaia took to her Instagram page and shared a picture of her with Tuchel and the Champions League trophy with a caption that read: “Thomas knows trophies. Congratulations, TT and England. World Cup 2026 just got more exciting!”

Meanwhile, several English pundits have expressed their displeasure at the appointment of Tuchel as the English team new coach.

Many were of the opinion that there were English coaches who could have taken up the role ahead of Tuchel, who is German.

All eyes will be on Tuchel when he takes up the role fully to deliver and win trophies for England.
