Chelsea to battle Manchester City for Atletico Madrid defender

The Blues are ready battle Manchester City for the signature of Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez during this present summer’s transfer window.

Jose Gimenez has purportedly been distinguished by Manchester City as a top transfer target, with Pep Guardiola’s side thought to be resolved to sign another defender ahead of the 2020-21 season.

However, as indicated by report, the Blues have also explored the South American as Chelsea thinking about improving their back-line during the upcoming transfer market.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard would need to offload at least one defender so as to sign Jose Gimenez, while the 25-year-old’s asking price could also be a problem.

An ongoing report guaranteed that Atletico Madrid had clarified that they would not be ready to listen to offers of under £109m for the ex-Danubio youngster.

The 25-year-old, who has a contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until the summer of 2023, has many appearances for Diego Simeone’s side during the 2019-20 season.

Chelsea need to sign another centre-back this summer, as the Blues hasn’t been good enough at the back this season.
