According to The Sun, Chelsea remains undeterred in their efforts to sign the player as they are ready to make a fresh bid this January provided that the first-team squad is reduced in January.
The report noted that Frank Lampard has seen the defensive-minded star as a long-term fixture in the middle of his defence.
With Lampard going through a tough time, he’s eager to add someone of Rice abilities to his teams as he wants to compete with the top teams in all front.
However, with the Blues recent defeat to Man City over the weekend, there are indications that the Blues could sack Lampard suit and this may affect the pursuit for Rice.
