Chelsea is keen on making new additions to their squad, especially with the arrival of their new manager Enzo Maresca this summer.

The Blues, who struggled with inconsistent form last season under former manager Mauricio Pochettino are working to sign new players and one of their major targets is Michael Olise.

While the Blues are close to sealing a deal for the winger, recent reports have revealed that Chelsea may be unable to trigger his release clause to sign him from Crystal Palace.

Recall that the Blues contacted the Selhurst Park club on Thursday over a potential transfer.

However, the stumbling block is that Olise’s £60 million release clause only applies to Champions League clubs.

Chelsea managed to finish in the sixth spot last season and will be playing in the Europa Conference League next season after Manchester United won the FA Cup final.

Aside from the Blues, EPL rivals Newcastle United and German club Bayern Munich are also said to be keen on signing Olise.

The Blues are, however, now confident that they will not have to pay more for Olise than a Champions League club, according to The Telegraph.
