Rooney distances self from Man Utd job
Since the sack of Ole Gunnar Soskjaer as the Red Devils coach, the club’s former star Wayne Rooney had been tipped as one of the coaches that could come in as a replacement, at least on an interim basis.
However, Rooney, who is currently a coach at Derby County as reacted to the rumours as he distanced himself away from Man Utd job.
The former England star stressed that he remains committed to Derby County and working hard to get the best results.
Rooney, who was a captain at Old Trafford, is currently battling relegation in the Championship with Derby County after their points deduction.
“Listen, firstly it’s always sad when a manager loses their job, especially a former teammate,” Rooney told Sky Sports.
“So I feel for Ole. I think the club have made their decision on Ole’s future, so its a sad day for Ole.
“In terms of myself, I’m committed to this club until someone say otherwise. I’m Derby County manager, I keep working hard to get the best results on the pitch for this team, I’m committed to this club.”
