Arsenal have finally secured the signature of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid but Leicester City boss, Brendan Rodgers has insisted that the London club never made enquiry for James Maddison.

Arsenal were linked with a move got James Maddison earlier in the summer as they plan to strengthen their midfield.

However, a deal was not completed for the England international and the Gunners had to settle for Odegaard who proved himself during a six month loan spell last season.

Brenden Rodgers has now cleared the air on the future of James Maddison as the transfer window move closer to it’s end

Speaking ahead of Leicester’s visit to West Ham on Monday, Rodgers insisted that speculations about Maddison’s future at the King Power Stadium was nothing more than ‘paper talk’.

He noted that there have been things this year around James, it was all paper talk, gossip, because there was never an enquiry, never a bid.

Maddison has become an important player for Leicester City, he played a huge role in their FA Cup triumph last season.
