Premier League iconic defender insists scrutiny on Frank Lampard at Chelsea uncalled for
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes the scrutiny against Frank Lampard at Chelsea is uncalled for after the Blues impressive display against Morecambe.
Chelsea have been under pressure for the past few days as they’ve not been able to grind positive results despite spending fortunes during the transfer window.
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea have lost four of their last Premier League matches as they currently lie in 9th place on the table but Ferdinand believes his former England teammate should get the benefit of the doubt with a new-look squad.
Ferdinand stated that it’s been a really sticky time for Chelsea of late and Lampard has come under a bit of scrutiny, people shouting him out in the media.
However, he does not think it’s been called for if he was to be honest with everyone.
The former Manchester United defender stated that he thinks Lampard got a whole new squad and big players have come in.
With this in mind, it takes time and he thinks Frank Lampard deserves that time.
Ferdinand noted that Lampard did well last year given no transfer window and this year will be no different if he’s given the time.
Chelsea will be eager to get their Premier League campaign back on track when they take fellow London club Fulham in their next league match.
