Arsenal are preparing to submit an official bid for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs.

The Gunners have identified Eze as a priority target following his standout season with the Eagles.

The England international enjoyed an exceptional 2024/25 campaign, scoring the decisive goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City and registering 25 goal contributions in 43 appearances across all competitions. His performances have attracted significant interest, with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur closely monitoring his situation.

Eze’s current contract at Selhurst Park reportedly contains a £68 million release clause. While Tottenham remain in the mix, Arsenal are said to be leading the race, with Mikel Arteta’s side confident of securing his signature. The midfielder is understood to be eager to join Arsenal, despite his key role in helping Crystal Palace qualify for European football for the first time in their history.

However, Crystal Palace are expected to stand firm in negotiations. The club has no intention of allowing Eze to leave below his release clause, and they are prepared to hold out for the full amount. Palace are already facing the possibility of losing club captain Marc Guehi, who has drawn interest from Liverpool, making this a potentially challenging summer for the south London side.

Arsenal remain hopeful that their strong interest, combined with the player’s desire for the move, will help drive the deal forward, though they may ultimately need to trigger his clause to get it done.
