Former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a recent statement finally opened up on details about his exit from Emirates Stadium.

According to Aubameyang, who also once played at Chelsea, the Gunners manager Mikel Arteta accused him of “putting a knife in his back.”

Recall that Aubameyang, who was the key player in winning the FA Cup for Arteta, banishment remains one of the most decisive actions taken by the Arsenal boss.

The Gabonese had signed new long-term contract and the captaincy just 18 months before he moved to Spanish side Barcelona, following the termination of his deal with the Gunners.

After he played as a late substitute in a defeat to Everton, Aubameyang was left out of the squad for the subsequent game against Southampton.

There was no explanation as to the reason for his absence from Arteta, but it was linked to Aubameyang returning late from visiting his sick mother, thus breaching COVID-19 protocols.

Speaking in an interview with @Colininterview, Aubameyang recounted the incident as he revealed Arteta was fully aware of the incident.
