Euro 24: Cucurella names Chelsea star he doesn’t want to play for England in finals

Spain defender and Chelsea star Marc Cucurella has disclosed that he wants England star and his Blues teammate Cole Palmer to stay on the bench for both teams’ Euro 2024 final clash on Sunday in Germany.

Recall that Palmer put up an impressive performance for England in the ongoing tournament as he made a great impact off the bench in their semi-final 2-1 win over the Netherlands.

The Blues winger created an assist for Ollie Watkins’ 90th-minute winner against the Netherlands.

Cucurella in a statement via Mundo Deportivo disclosed he spoke with Palmer, but it was over a week ago as they talked for a while in the previous rounds.

“For me, it’s much better if he doesn’t play and stays on the bench,” Cucurella said.

The football world has been divided on who would emerged as the winners this year.

Recall that England lost in the finals in the last Euro tournament to Italy and would hope to win their first trophy on a foreign soil when they meet Spain on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Cucurella and Palmer will be expected to rejoin their colleagues at Chelsea for the pre-season training under new manager Enzo Maresca after the Euro tournament.
