Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek made the Blues squad during their 1-1 draw vs West Ham over the weekend in the Premier League.

Loftus-Cheek had his first minutes since the loss against Newcastle United in the Blues’ final fixture before the World Cup when he exited the action early because of injury.

Speaking on his return to the squad, Loftus-Cheek said it had been frustrating having to be on the sideline.

He, however, hopes to build on the minutes he played against West Ham to make a full return.

‘I can’t believe it’s been that many months,’ he admitted.

‘The injury took a bit longer than I had hoped, it’s been frustrating, but I’ve been training for a couple of weeks and I’m feeling good.

‘The gaffer saw that and asked me if I was feeling good to step in, and I said yeah of course. I wasn’t flying about and feeling 100 per cent, but I have to build on this.’

Loftus-Cheek is unlikely to make the Chelsea squad when they face German side Borussia Dortmund this week in the Uefa Champions League.
