Chelsea star finally reveals main reason why he snubbed England for this African country
Chelsea owned winger Victor Moses has finally revealed the main reason why he decided to represent Nigeria on the international stage rather than England.
Victor Moses represented England at the 2007 FIFA U17 World Cup and also earned caps for England U16, U19 and U21 national teams before he switch allegiance to Nigeria in 2011.
The talented winger who was the joint-top scorer at the 2007 European U17 Championship alongside Real Madrid star Toni Kroos in a new interview with Spartak Moscow’s official website revealed how the former Nigeria manager convinced him to switch allegiance.
Victor Moses stated that there are several reasons as the then coach of the Nigeria national team was very persistent, flew to London several times to convince him and said: ‘Come on, Vic! Nigeria is your home country, we have a great team.
The former Wigan Atletic winger stated that the coach noted that Nigeria haven’t won the African Cup for so long, and he is needed.
Victor Moses added that at some point he made up his mind, Nigeria took the title, the team gave him many vivid memories.
However, the winger retired from international football at the age of 27 after featuring in his second World Cup for the Super Eagles despite that he was asked to change his mind.
