Chelsea react to sanction by the UK government
Chelsea have also reacted to the sanction placed on the club owner Roman Abramovich by the UK government.
The Blues, in a statement, revealed they want to have discussions in a bid to “operate as normally as possible”.
While Chelsea can still operate as a Premier League club under a special licence, they have been banned from making any potential sale for now.
This includes not being allowed to sell any more tickets, which means only those with season tickets can go to games for the foreseeable future.
Also, they can’t complete player transfers, or new contracts can be negotiated.
In the statement, Chelsea said they “intend to engage in discussions with the UK Government regarding the scope of the licence.
“This will include seeking permission for the licence to be amended in order to allow the club to operate as normal as possible.”
With this latest sanction, Chelsea have seen their major sources of revenue cut off, while Abramovich has been prevented from selling the club except he agrees that the UK government complete the sales without him getting a proceed from the sales.
