Chelsea are not giving up in their bid to sign a striker for their newly appointed manager Enzo Maresca ahead of the new season.

The Blues have been linked to several forwards including Napoli star Victor Osimhen, who happens to be their main target.

With the uncertainties surrounding Osimhen’s move to Stamford Bridge, the Blues appear to have turn their attention to other options.

A report by Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed the Blues and Aston Villa have submitted offers to sign Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier this summer.

The report added that the Premier League rivals stepped up their interest in the 21-year-old, who has no shortage of suitors after his impressive debut season in the German Bundesliga.

Beier who made 33 appearances for Hoffenheim scored 16 goals and created three assists, helping the club finish seventh in the league table.

Plettenberg, however, stressed that neither Chelsea nor Aston Villa are yet to advance in talks to sign the promising striker.

The Premier League clubs will also have to compete with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, who are also among top club interested in signing the striker.
