As the January transfer window draws near, Arsenal have been urged to sign a new midfielder to replace out of favour Mesut Ozil in the team as they need a creative defender if they want to be seen as a contender in the league this season.

With Mikel Arteta ruling out Ozil from his team, former Arsenal star, Gilberto Silva has urged the team to sign Aston Villa midfielder, Jack Grealish instead.

Tottenham and three other clubs that could lift the Premier League this season

Silva told Ladbrokes when asked who Arsenal should be targeting: “I like Jack Grealish. I’ve spoken about him a lot. He has done an amazing job; he’d be a good fit for the team.

“If you see the way he plays, his ability and desire. He’s got quality, there is no doubt about that. He has been sensational this season.”

Silva, however, stressed that Grealish wouldn’t come cheap and the club must be willing to break the bank to sign him.

The truth is Arsenal may not be able to afford the English midfielder, whom Aston Villa have put his price at £100 million.

According to report, Jack Grealish’s value has risen and it would take a bid of £100m to persuade Villa to let him go.

Arsenal would also have to compete against Man Utd and Man City who have also shown interest in him and can easily afford him, unlike the North London club.

Grealish has been superb this season and he surely is ready for a big move to a bigger club.
