Arsenal eye Rennes defender as Saliba’s replacement

Arsenal are said to be considering signing a new player defence line before the close of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with moves Rennes centre-back Jeremy Jacquet they plan for future exits.
Popular football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also confirmed Chelsea interest in Jacquet.
According to Romano, Jacquet could become a genuine option for the Gunners if any more defenders leave.
Another option is that Arsenal could hold back for now and make a move in 12 months’ time.
Jacquet could also arrive at Emirates as a replacement William Saliba, whose future at Arsenal remains in doubt.
Salina’s deal with Arsenal will expire in 2027, and Real Madrid are said to still have their eyes on him.
During this transfer window, Arsenal signed Spain Under-21 international Cristhian Mosquera, who made his debut in Thursday’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Aside from Mosquera, other players Arsenal signed this summer include Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Noni Madueke and Christian Norgaard as they prepare for the next campaign.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have continued to be linked with moves for Crystal Palace’s star midfielder Eberechi Eze, who is said to be their top priority.
