One of Chelsea’s potential owners and American billionaire, Ken Griffin, has promised fans that he will help build ‘the most competitive team possible’ if the Ricketts family consortium successfully buys the West London club.

Recall that Chelsea were forcefully put up for sale after the UK government sanctions against their Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich.

Abramovich was sanctioned over his links with Russian President Vladimir Putin amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

With the look of things, Abramovich’s 19-year tenure as Chelsea owner is about to end this season, as new owners are expected to take over soon.

Griffin, whose net worth is around £20 billion, was in London with his siblings earlier this month in talks alongside Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert as the group forms a consortium.

To take over Chelsea, a capital of at least £50 billion would be needed, and Griffin has now displayed his delight at the bid forming ahead of a potential move.

“I’m thrilled to come together with my long-time friends and partners, the Ricketts Family and Dan Gilbert, who have built legendary championship teams,” Griffin said as quoted by Express UK.

“All of us love to compete and, even more, we love to win. Our group will work closely together to put the most competitive team on the pitch every year. If selected, we will validate the trust placed in us to continue Chelsea’s winning tradition while delivering a terrific game-day experience for the fans.”
