Ronaldo has upset the balance at Old Trafford – Wenger
Former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has reacted to the return of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo joined Man Utd in the recent summer transfer window from the Italian side of Juventus.
Since rejoining his former club, the 36-year-old striker has been impressive, scoring six goals in his nine appearances for the club; however, despite his presence in the Man Utd squad on Sunday, the Portuguese was unable to save them from the embarrassing 5-0 defeat to Liverpool right at Old Trafford.
Wenger believes that the return of Ronaldo to Man Utd has upset the balance in the club; the Frenchman noted that for Ole Solskjaer to get the best out of the striker, he needs to create a balance.
“I wouldn’t say it was a mistake, but certainly some emotional impact was in there because he has been a fantastic player,” Wenger was quoted by MEN as saying.
“No, I believe Ronaldo can still score the goals you need. Can he repeat every three games very high-intensity games? That is certainly less the case today but let’s not forget he was the hero three days ago.
“When you buy a player like that, the secret is the balance of the team. To play Ronaldo, he can win you games, but you need to create the balance around him.”
