Why Rice is Arsenal’s best player this season

Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has named Declan Rice as Arsenal’s best player this season.

Recall that the Gunners signed Rice from West Ham United in the summer transfer window at a club-record fee of £105 million.

Since moving to Emirates Stadium, the English midfielder has so far impressed with his playing style at the Gunners this season.

Rice’s performances for the Gunners have earned him praise from Ferdinand, who does not doubt who has been Arsenal’s talisman this season.

Speaking on his podcast Vibe with Five, Ferdinand said (as quoted by The Boot Room):
“Declan Rice, he’s been your best player this year, he’s been your best player.”

Rice’s importance in Mikel Arteta’s side is evidenced by his stats.

The midfielder who has started in all of Arsenal’s 11 Premier League games and all of the matches in the UCL has scored two goals and created two assists in 17 appearances this season.
