Why Man Utd lost to Tottenham – Ten Hag

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has reacted to his side’s defeat to Tottenham Hospur in their second game in the Premier League.

The Red Devils started the new season with narrow a 1-0 win over the Wolves but failed to impress in their first away match.

Pape Matar Sarr’s and Lisandro Martinez’s own goal was all the Spurs needed to claim all three points.

Reflecting on the match, Ten Hag believed the weekend match was not theirs to day despite creating goal chances.

Ten Hag, speaking to Match of the Day, said: “We created the chances, the first half was completely ours and then you have to score. We created the chances but we didn’t put them in the net.

“Also we deserved a penalty. We didn’t get it, so you have to accept it. That’s the way the game is. So it was not our day.”
