Chelsea may have been able to reach an agreement with their first transfer under their new permanent manager Mauricio Pochettino.

This comes as the Blues target Manuel Ugarte is said to have considered leaving Sporting for Chelsea over French side PSG this summer.

A report via Record Portugal revealed Chelsea have beaten PSG to the signing of Ugarte.

According to the reports, both clubs have agreed to pay Ugarte’s release clause fee of €60 million.

The Premier League giants offered the defensive midfielder a salary of €3.5 million, while PSG have reportedly tabled an offer worth €5 million per season (both figures after taxes).

Ugarte, however, favours a move to Chelsea, and an announcement confirming his arrival is expected in the coming days.

Ugarte has been one of the most impressive defensive midfielders this season.

The Uruguay star made 47 appearances for Sporting this season.

Meanwhile, Sporting manager Ruben Amorim had previously spoken about Ugarte’s potential departure from the club.
