UCL: Lack of self belief: Lampard speaks on Chelsea’s defeat to Real Madrid
Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has reacted to his side’s recent defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Lampard in a post-match statement said the Blues lacked self-belief which was the reason behind the defeat.
Real Madrid won the first leg of the match thanks to goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio.
The Blues would, however, be hoping to turn things around when they host the Los Blancos in the second leg at Stamford Bridge next week.
“I’m proud of the 10 men. The disappointing thing is we give away a set-piece and switch off. I don’t think they carved us open at 10 men.
“There is a lot there for us, as good a team as they are. There’s a bit of a lack of belief. The players don’t know how good they are.
“Next week will be a big fight,” Lampard told BT Sport
