Tuchel speaks on Chelsea link with Dembele

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel in a recent statement has cleared the air on the reported link between the club and Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele.

According to Tuchel, there was no link between the Blues and Dembele in the recent January transfer window.

This is contrary to previous reports that had claimed the Blues were heavily linked with the France international.

During the recently concluded January transfer window, Chelsea were reportedly linked with Dembele and different left wing-backs; however, they did not make a first-team addition during the opening month of 2022.

Tuchel, in his statement, insisted that he’s pleased with how the month progressed, hinting that there was little desire to get a deal for Dembele over the line at the midway point of the campaign.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Tuchel said: “I’m very satisfied because it was a calm window. To be calm is always the best thing.

“We were open to things. I did not have contact with Ousmane. There was no contact in winter, no contact between us.”

The reports have claimed that Chelsea plan to make a move for Dembele in the summer with the player set to leave Barcelona on a free transfer.
