Tuchel reacts as Chelsea extend James contract by 6 years

Chelsea star Reece James has extended his contract with the club as he signs a six years contract.

James signed the new contract on Monday before the Blues squad departed for Croatia ahead of their Champions League group opener against Dinamo Zagreb.

He was part of the 23-man travelling squad and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel in a recent statement has reacted to the new contract extension for James.

‘He’s a very decisive player for us,’ said Tuchel. ‘He is an Academy player and I’ve said many times how important he is.

‘His development is far from over. There is a lot to learn for him and a lot to come but of course we’re happy to have a key player with us for so many years.’

James could start for Chelsea against Zagreb tonight as the Blues hope to start their first game with a win.
