Tuchel advised against repeating Lampard’s mistake
Chelsea coach and Germany international Thomas Tuchel has been advised against repeating the same mistake as former Blues manager Frank Lampard.
This advice was given by former Chelsea star Frank Lebouef.
Lebouef, in his statement, warned Tuchel to avoid a Christmas slump in form amid what happened to Lampard last year.
This comes after Chelsea recent defeat to West Brom last weekend, which has now seen them drop from the top of the table behind Man City and Liverpool.
Lebouef stressed that Chelsea’s recent performances are no longer convincing like how they started the season.
“The football they play is interesting but it’s not convincing, in the way that I don’t feel the strength that I used to see months ago,” Leboeuf told ESPN FC.
“Remember, last year before Frank Lampard was sacked, they were [third] and people were saying, ‘Chelsea may be a contender’.
“And then something happened in December and they lost against Arsenal on December 26, and they were nowhere near it before Tuchel came in.”
Chelsea will hope to bounce back when they face Russian club Zenit in the UCL on Wednesday night.
