Despite the earlier reports claiming that Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Fenerbahce centre-back Attila Szalai, the reports have been revealed to be untrue.

Recall that Hungary coach Marco Rossi had earlier claimed that the Blues had reached an agreement with Szalai.

Chelsea have a lot to worry especially in regards to their defenders likes Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen, whose future at the club are uncertain and could leave in 2022.

The Blues key defender Thiago Silva will be 38 next year, and it means Chelsea have to start eying new defenders they can sign as replacements.

This brought up Rossi recent claim that the signing of Szalai was a done deal.

However, The Telegraph‘s Matt Law, in a statement, has stated that there is no agreement in place for the 23-year-old to move to Stamford Bridge either in January or the summer.

Law added that Szalai is not even a “player of interest” to Tuchel at this moment in time, with the Hungary international signing a contract extension at Fenerbahce until 2025 earlier this year.

It appears the Blues have their eyes on better-experienced players who can blend in easily if any of their key defenders decide to leave.
