Thomas Tuchel insists starting veteran defender was his first priority at Chelsea
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has insisted that starting club captain Cesar Azpilicueta in the first team was a priority from day one.
Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as the blues manager and his first match saw some couples of changes as the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta were restored to the first team.
Cesar Azpilicueta was playing as a second fiddle to Recce James before Tuchel’s arrival and the Spaniard have been putting in impressive performance ever since the German arrived.
Thomas Tuchel while former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport has now insisted that the move remain his best priority as the blues coach.
The German tactician stated that the most important thing is not the formation but how we live it, how everybody respects the principles.
He noted how the team attack, how they defend, in the formation’s that they play and this is much more important than the formation.
Tuchel pinpointed that his team can be strong in any formation, so now, they started with a three and a double sux because of the characteristics of the players.
The former Paris Saint-Germain manager noted that he wanted to have Azpi on the fields that were the first thing for him because he wanted the captain on the field.
