Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku has been linked with moves away from the club this summer as he failed to impress during the summer.

However, a report via La Gazzetta Dello revealed Lukaku would only be able to leave Stamford Bridge on a loan deal this summer, with a “normalised salary” funded by Chelsea.

The Belgian star has been linked with a return to Inter Milan, who are also believed to be looking for ways to sign him back to San Siro ahead of next season.

Recall that the Belgian star left Inter Milan last season in a £97.5 million move to Chelsea but he has struggled to adapt to Thomas Tuchel’s tactical set-up and has lost regular game time.

The only way Lukaku can return to Italy is to re-join Inter Milan on a loan basis.

And the Italian club would need Chelsea to agree on what Gazzetta calls a ‘normalised salary’.

The Blues striker currently earns £325,000 per week, which is totalled £16.9 million a year.

This is an amount that would be hard for Inter Milan to meet as they don’t have the financial backup.

Also, the arrival of Todd Boehly’s consortium as Chelsea’s new owner could lead to some changes at the club.
