The race to sign new defenders at Chelsea is on and they are keen to get it done before the start of the season.

A latest report has linked the Blues with moves for Paris Saint Germain PSG defender Achraf Hakimi.

Chelsea were linked with moves to sign the Morocco international from Inter Milan last summer before he opted to move to Parc des Princes.

However, the report claims that the defender is not happy in France despite making 41 appearances in all competitions during 2021-22 with PSG.

The Blues could exploit this and encourage Hakimi to move to the EPL this summer instead.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea could be prepared to bring in Hakimi as a replacement for Cesar Azpilicueta, who is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Reece James would likely retain his spot as first-choice right wing-back under Thomas Tuchel, but Hakimi would represent world-class cover and competition.

The only issue that could stop this from happening is that Chelsea Chelsea might not be willing to meet the €71m (£60.45m) fee, which includes add-ons, that PSG shelled out to sign less than a year ago.
