Germany international and Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has finally opened up on the reason behind his exit from Chelsea.

The German star in a statement said he had to leave as the West London side delayed contract talks.

Rudiger added that the Los Blancos do not call often, making it irresistible for him to not respond to the Spanish La Liga giants.

In a statement with The Inside Scoop, the German defender said that he was at the peak of his career and knew that there was a chance of moving to Real Madrid.

Recalling his time at Stamford Bridge, Rudiger said there was a massive period of no talks, but he was still playing at my best for the Blues even though he could get injured.

He stressed that he also knew in his mind that the Champions League the Blues won could be his ticket to the biggest club in the world, Real Madrid.

The defender also wrote in the Players’ Tribune that the contract talks played a major role in his departure from Chelsea.

Rudiger added that the sanctions on Chelsea at that time also played a part, but he had nothing bad to say about the Blues.
