New update on Kante’s contract with Chelsea

Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has given an update on France midfielder N’Golo Kante’s contract at Chelsea.

While Kante’s current deal at Stamford Bridge will expire this summer, it appears the Blues are keen on keeping him.

Although the French midfielder was held down from impressing for the Blues last season during to injuries, Chelsea are said to be in talks with him over a possible extension.

Kante, who won the 2018 World Cup with France, is widely regarded as one of the best box-to-box midfielders around.

Romano in a statement said the Frenchman’s extension talks with the Blues entered an advanced stage before slowing down recently, and the situation is unclear at this point.

“N’Golo Kanté’s contract extension, not done yet — talks were very advanced in the last months but now the situation is unclear again. More contacts will take place,” he tweeted.

“Parties will talk in order to decide — there are more clubs keen on Kanté on a free, including Saudi.”
