Merson says he is shocked by Chelsea’s decision to let Cech and Granovskaia
Arsenal star, Paul Merson is among the many lovers of football who are shocked by Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly’s decision to let two key people Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Boehly in a statement hailed Granovskaia and Cech after they resigned from their roles as Chelsea director and Technical and Performance Advisor, respectively.
As of now, Chelsea are yet to bring in a replacement for the two while Boehly is currently in charge of the club’s transactions in the transfer market.
Since the American billionaire took over the reins of the club from the former owner Roman Abramovich, he has restructured the club in a way that have seen some of the staff from the previous regime leave.
“I thought the people who came in would keep Petr Cech in his position and Marina Granovskaia, who has done a great job at the club,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“You keep them there, shadow them. It is not easy, it is not baseball and basketball where you are doing trades. This is professional football and I am quite shocked those two have left the way they have,” he added.
