Premier League side Manchester United might not be signing their top defensive target Raphael Varane just days after they agreed to a transfer fee with Borussia Dortmund for the signature of Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United finally agreed on a deal worth £73m with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho, currently with the England national team at Euro 2020.

The red devils are willing to have strength in all departments on the pitch, and Varane has been linked with them.

However, a deal for the French defender might not be completed due to the transfer fee that brought Sancho to Old Trafford.

According to Sport (via Sport Witness), Sancho’s transfer fee of £73m has left Manchester United with a limited remaining budget to play with, a move that could prevent a move being agreed for Varane.

The report claimed United are willing to spend nothing more than €45m on the world cup winner, but Real Madrid might be asking more than that despite the fact that Varane has just one year left on his contract.

Despite this, United are believed to be in the driving seat for Varane’s signature as he currently has one year left on his Madrid contract.
