Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is confident he has done what needs to be done that will ensure Olivier Giroud did not seek a move away from Stamford Bridge in January.

Giroud started this season as back-up to the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Tammy Abraham following Lampard’s splurge in the transfer market but have been putting in some impressive performance.

The World Cup Winner has been in a thrilling form for the past few weeks as his crucial goal against Rennes in the Champions League in November has seen him reestablish himself as a regular under Lampard.

Giroud followed this with a record-breaking four-goal haul against Sevilla a week later and he’s notched two in three starts since.

He is now being considered as a starter in record-breaking, scoring in their loss to Wolves and the Telegraph has now reported that Lampard is confident that he’s convinced the Frenchman that he needn’t leave next month.

Former Arsenal forward Giroud joined Chelsea from Arsenal in 2018 in a desperate last-ditch bid to make France’s World Cup squad and the move paid dividends as he ended up as a starter in Didier Deschamps’ side in Russia.

The Frenchman aim is now making the 23 man squad that will represent France at the next European Competition.
